Well, not officially. Just that we found them online via stillmadeinusa.com! These tube socks, 100% made in the USA, are designed and made by Skatersocks.com.  The don’t come in fancy packaging (just held together with a rubberband), but that reduces our carbon footprint, doesn’t it? These come in infant sizes too and in a variety of colors. Stock up on socks for the entire family… We got these 5 pairs for $19.00!

Oh yes. My 4 year old loves motorcycles. Thus, whenever we see cute stuff we consider it as part of the wardrobe, especially when it’s made by Americans.  This onesie is a design by Motorose on an American Apparel onesie, available here.

Awesomeness by US manufacturers! October 13, 2009

My kids really want the Fort by Cardboard Design. In fact, they are talking about getting it for Christmas already. The kids can paint, color, or decorate it any way they please… The boys have those little knights and pirates by Playmobil that could match perfectly with the fort…

Of course if you want something a little more permanent, you can always choose this castle – the King’s Castle (knights and horses not included) by TAG Toys. Made in the USA!

Last Christmas they got the My Very Own House from their uncle and auntie, which they absolutely LOVED! Thus, that became our very best-selling item during Christmas!  Of course, it being a “Cool Mom Picks” pick may have helped in that regard too.

Each time I start shopping for Christmas or a birthday, I always think of (naturally) buying American made items. It is actually quite difficult to find such items at big box stores; However, there are a few online shops that we adore and shop at (besides our own). There are a handful of websites you can visit that are directory types of made in the USA items. If you’re looking for something we do not offer, you can usually find it by using Google. But if it is something that is kid or baby or mama related (and made in the USA) and we don’t have it, please email us to request we carry it & we will do our best to get it!

Some Bags, but not just ANY Bags… October 11, 2009

Awww… I finally found what I was looking for. Casual. Elegant. Functional. Made in the USA.

This bag, right here. I want it. No, we don’t sell it. But me likes. Me wants.

It’s by Heather Hawkins. And from the likes of it, she knows style (at least my style). Her Gypsy bag:

I can’t decide if I like the black or the black and white one better.

And then there’s the Mini Blind bag that I want in Fairy Dust SILVER:

There’s lots more. And it looks like all are made out of Italian leather. But they are all sewn right here in the United States! Made in the USA, baby. Shop Heather Hawkins now.

Made in the USA Choices September 11, 2009

In an effort to support our economy as best as possible, along with the fact that it just plain makes me feel good, I try to by made in USA stuff as much as possible.

So when shopping for homeschool supplies (yes, we homeschool – starting this year)… I got crazy reading labels. Did you know not all Crayola stuff is made in the USA? But I did find a box that was and purchased them. I couldn’t find any glue sticks that were, but reality sets in – our purchases are not supporting the US economy all of the time.

We like these very cool, educational coloring books (all MADE IN THE USA)by Dover Publications:

I think my 1st and 3rd graders will get a little entertainment out of this set (while also getting a little history lesson)!

Summer Berry Picking and Gardening August 22, 2009

So we have a garden – big deal, right? Not really. But apparently people think its great and our kids LOVE it! They get to pick fresh sugar snap peas whenever they are ready, and we get super yummy red potatoes (my favorite). We also have carrots, turnips, and spinach.

This week we’ve also went berry picking. In Alaska there’s an abundance of wild berries, including blue berries, crow berries (black currants), cranberries, salmon berries, raspeberries, and strawberries. We’ve only been able to find crowberries and blueberries, but only because I am not willing to risk my children’s lives by going deep into the forest only to run into bear(s). Recently there was a guy just in town taking his dog for a walk and a bear charged him! We take our dog – a chocolate lab, with us everywhere. He even ate some berries too!
